Ohio Department of Health

Project: BASE-10 Content Management Software
Industry: Government
Website: www.odh.ohio.gov
Var: Interactive Ink, Columbus, OH.

Challenge:

The Ohio Department of Health was looking for a way to manage their primary Web Presence along with multiple satellite sites for State of Ohio initiatives and programs.  The challenge was to implement a content management system that was robust enough to effectively handle their volumes of content yet user-friendly enough to allow Ohio Department of Health non-technical staff manage content.  Being a government agency, security and workflow were critical components of this project.

The Process:

The Ohio Department of Health conducted an exhausted search for the perfect "off the shelf" Content Management Systems.  After reviewing several solutions they decided to use our recommended solution: BASE-10.  BASE-10 addressed all the requirements for security, scalability, ease of use and workflow processes, while being reasonably priced.  BASE-10 is developed in the Microsoft .Net framework and is fully supported by a team of seasoned developers.

Other aspects of the system, including document and asset management were utilized to accomplish the daunting task of providing vast amounts of health statistics and information to the public.

Solutions:

  • Implemented the Ohio Department of Health's main website into the BASE-10 content management solution within a 90 day period.  The system was in place, on time and within budget.
  • All content is searchable through a robust search on the public side of the website.
  • Multiple templates can be developed and implemented into Base10, allowing various bureaus and programs to implement their respective design specifications.
  • Created a workflow system that supports the Ohio Department of Health's internal processes, policies and procedures.

Results:

The BASE-10 content management solution allows The Ohio Department of Health to control their websites without the expense, bottleneck, or dependency of working with an outsourced provider, or small internal IT web development team
