Will the popularity of iTunes and iPods cause more PC users to go Mac?
3/17/2006 Tony Pietrocola, Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal

As a former Apple employee, I feel Steve Jobs is the best in the business about creating buzz that tempts the inner geek inside all of us. The iPod is a huge success and will continue to evolve as the leader in its field. Think about this: the iPod was not the first to enter the market, and now it's not only a noun it's a verb! That said, Apple will never gain market share in the PC business. The one thing that drives the computer market is programs and Apple decided long ago to stay proprietary instead of opening up their platform to third-party developers. Windows opened it up from day one and now controls over 90 percent of the market. Consumers have too much familiarity, history and legacy to switch platforms now.
